Tomball Cougar Pride (TCP) Marching Band

The highly competitive and hard-working Tomball Cougar Pride Marching Band is the one of the most visible and successful groups at Tomball High School. Membership in this group averages approximately 130 members (brass, woodwinds, percussion, and color guard).  The group performs at varsity football games, marches in the Homecoming and Holiday Parades in the fall, and performs at the Veteran’s Day ceremony in Tomball each year. In addition, the TCP participates in multiple marching contests each fall.


Wind Ensemble

This is the top-performing ensemble at THS. The band performs literature that is at the highest varsity level and into the college level.  Students in the Wind Ensemble are required to participate in the TMEA All-State Band Process. Woodwind and brass players also perform in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in the spring.


Symphonic Band

This is the second performing ensemble at THS. The band performs literature that is at varsity level and non-varsity level.  Students in the Symphonic Band are encouraged to participate in the TMEA All-State Band Process. Woodwind and brass players are required to perform in the UIL Solo and Ensemble Contest in the spring.


Color Guard and Winter Guard

The Color Guard combines contemporary dance with the spinning of flags, sabers, and rifles. This outstanding performing group is an integral part of the TCP Marching Band. In the Fall semester, the Color Guard performs with the TCP at varsity football games, marching contests, and other events. The Color Guard adds visual interest to the marching show and contributes to the overall success of the band.

The Winter Guard ensemble is composed of students who were part of the color guard from marching season.  This group is selected by auditions to bring in new students to the activity.  The THS Winter Guard is competitive in both the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) and Winter Guard International (WGI) circuits.


Winter Percussion Ensemble

The Winter Percussion is an extra-curricular ensemble based on auditions that take place in November.  Members rehearse two days per week after school and some Saturdays. The Winter Percussion ensemble is competitive in both the Texas Color Guard Circuit (TCGC) and Winter Guard International (WGI) circuits, and are the back-to-back 2014 and 2015 TCGC Scholastic Concert A Class Champions..


Steel Pan Class and Ensemble

This group meets every day during the school day.  This class is designed for students who would like to be part of a traditional steel pan setting.  This group will be performing out in the community at various events.  The group will play traditional Trinidad music along with other popular songs.
